SNAP CT is extremely disappointed in the election of Spokane, WA Bishop William S. Skylstad to President of the United States Catholic Conference of Bishops. Bishop Skylstad has a long and painful history with victims of clergy abuse that culminated last week by announcing that the Spokane Diocese would file for bankruptcy. We feel that this is a sign to bishops, already trying to weaken the Charter, of the backsliding on promises to keep our children safe that is to surely follow.
